WIACNS Legislative Update

Posted 15 days ago by Katherine Rembalski

Today marks another successful milestone in the journey of the APRN Modernization Act to becoming law in Wisconsin.  Today the full Assembly and Senate voted on companion bills, AB 257 and SB 258.  Each of these bills passed unanimously in the Assembly and Senate.  The next step and final step in this process is for the bill to be brought to the Governor’s desk for signature.  There is no specific timeline that the Governor has to review and sign or veto the bill.  We will continue to monitor when the bill arrives in the Governor’s office, but are very optimistic that he will sign this version of the bill.  If further action is needed, we will send out a separate call to action.
Thank you to all those who have contacted their legislators, attended events at the capitol, participated in public hearings, and given tirelessly to advocate for the passage of this bill.  Your voice and efforts have made a significant difference.  The WNA, WIACNS, WIANA, WANP, and WGOM will be collectively publishing a press release on the unanimous passage of the APRN Modernization Act in both the Senate and Assembly.  Additionally, the press release will recognize the bipartisan support of this bill and offer a sincere thank you to our legislative sponsors and champions, Senators Testin, Roy, Gabral-Guevara, and Representatives Kurtz and Subeck.
You are welcome to email the bill sponsors and your specific Senator and Representative to thank them for their support of the APRN Modernization Act.   Legislators always appreciate hearing directly from their constituents.
